Client in Pendleton is in the market for a 2ND Shift Soils Lead Supervisor

 

Hours: 3:30pm – 12am (M-F); must be flexible to work overtime when needed

Pay Range: $24/$25 (Depends on Experience)

 

Job Description

Summary: Acts as working supervisor for soils production. Ensures finished soil products are produced in a timely and efficient manner.

Performs varied warehouse and production line functions to support mixing and packaging of products. 

 

Essential Functions: 

  1. Production Supervision 

  1. Plan daily and weekly production based on need communicated by Production Manager. 

  2. Assign personnel to tasks. 

  3. Ensure efficient and productive use of resources and personnel. 

  4. Ensure daily and weekly production requirements are met. 

  5. Ensure quality and consistency of raw materials used for production meets the standards of the company. 

  6. Ensure quality and consistency of finished product meets the standards of the company. 

  7. Ensure personnel have adequate and necessary training in tasks assigned to them. 

  8. Evaluate safety consciousness, participation and overall work attitude. 

  9. Ensure safe work practices. 

  10. Compile end of the day manufacturing stats. 

  1. Bagging Support 

  1. Manipulates empty packaging into position under production line. Operates controls to fill packaging to required level. 

  2. Ensures an efficient and productive pace is set on the soils line. 

  1. Sealing Support 

  1. Manipulates open end of full packaging into sealing machine to ensure full, straight seals. 

  2. Ensures an efficient and productive pace is maintained on the soils line. 

  1. Palletizing Support 

  1. Places filled, sealed product in straight, neat stacks on pallets using pre-determined patterns and counts. 

  2. Ensures broken or defective bags of product do not make it on finished pallets. 

  3. Ensures an efficient and productive pace is maintained on the soils line. 

  1. Equipment Operation Support 

  1. Manipulates levers and pedals to drive and control forklifts, skid steers, and loaders to: 

  1. Transport raw materials from indoor storage piles to soil production line bins/hoppers. 

  2. Manipulate indoor raw materials storage piles to maintain neat piles and to maximize the use of space. 

  3. Transport packaging and raw materials supplies to soils production areas. 

  4. Transport palletized product to shrink wrapper to be wrapped. 

  5. Transport wrapped palletized product to storage areas. 

  1. Fuel, clean and grease forklifts, skid steers, and loaders when necessary and/or during down-time. 

  2. Safely operate forklifts, skid steers, and loaders in accordance with state and federal laws and company policies. 

 

Housekeeping 

  1. Maintain clean and safe working environment by ensuring all material spilled on, under, or around production equipment and work spaces is cleaned during down time and at the end of each day. 

  1. General 

  1. Regular attendance and timeliness. 

  2. All other tasks as assigned. 

 

Knowledge, Skill and Experience: 

  1. Basic arithmetic. 

  2. Must have good communication and interpersonal skills. 

  3. Ability to work positively in a team environment. 

  4. Must be detail oriented.

 

Financial Responsibility and Authority: 

  1. Equipment: Ensure reasonable care and use of production equipment and machinery. 

  2. Financial: Carelessness, lack of planning, and lack of attention to detail could result in damage to equipment and machinery, excessive waste of raw materials and product packaging, and/or poor quality finished goods. 

  3. Supervisory: Carelessness, lack of planning, and lack of attention to detail could result in excessive waste of human resources, excessive overtime requirements, loss of morale, and/or excessive injuries. 

 

Physical Job Description: 

Typical Working Conditions 

  1. Warehouse environment. 

  2. Warehouse covered by California Proposition 65. 

  3. Exposure to hazardous materials. 

  4. Exposure to natural temperature fluctuations. 

  5. Exposure to varying noise levels. 

  6. Exposure to air particulates. 

  7. High levels of equipment traffic. 

  8. Exposure to moving machinery.

  1. Bag filling hopper 

  2. Bag sealer 

  3. Conveyors 

  4. Bag flattener 

  5. Pallets 

  6. Stretch wrappers 

  7. Industrial Lift Trucks 

  8. Skid Steer 

  9. Loader 

Essential Physical Tasks 

  1. Must occasionally lift approximately 60 lbs. 

  2. Must stand for extended periods of time.
