We are seeking a Class A CDL Driver to join our team! You will be responsible for safely operating a flatbed truck with a capacity of at least 26, 001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). Experience driving a forklift, Moffett, Princeton or piggy back is preferred. A typical work week will be M-F 5 a.M to 5 p.M with the occasional overnight delivery. Majority of deliveries are in Georgia with the occasional Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina trip.
General duties for the Driver position include:
The loading of trucks and making deliveries. Assemble information for deliveries. Maintain all rolling equipment driven. As a driver and representative of this company, you must not ever compromise safety. Always know your load and inspect your truck before moving it. Verify that the load is complete per the paperwork. Arrive early before departure allowing time for pre-trip inspection checking all fluid levels, tires, brakes and other safety equipment on the truck. Avoid being late and trying to hurry. SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT.
At the job-site, demonstrate a sincere desire to cooperate with the customer. Take extra time as needed to place the unloaded pipe as the customer wishes. Request that the customer makes a physical count and inform them that their signature acknowledges receipt in full of all material. If B/Os exist, make the customer aware. Make sure you have done everything possible to help the customer and have all paperwork properly signed. If the signature is not legible, write the name and date of delivery.
Position includes the following:
Load trucks for all fab deliveries safely.
Review delivery schedule
Inspect delivery documents to ensure they include: contact name and phone number, Bill of Lading, Final Inspection Worksheet and all Fab Lists, Loose List and/or Sales Orders.
Review staging area with Weld Lead, Fab Supervisor and Warehouse Mgr to ensure all material is staged and properly identified on the Final Inspection Worksheet.
Verify and acquire subsistence expenses for overnight deliveries.
Consolidate multiple small deliveries whenever possible.
Contact shop to help expedite material pick ups from suppliers by utilizing driver on return trips.
Keep vehicles and forklifts properly maintained, oil changes, tires and complete service for best possible care.
Inspect bundles and pallets to ensure they are secure, tight and properly labeled.
Keep vehicles clean.
Keep cabs clean and routinely inspect for damage.
Repair damage promptly and exercise good care habits.
Assist Yardman by unloading pipe trucks and banding pipe as available.
Assist in warehouse as necessary.
Overflow responsibilities include: loading thread magazine, loading weld tables, bundling pipe, unloading pipe trucks, Sales Counter and warehouse.
Dress neatly and wear cloths/uniforms as directed by management.
Be on time. Always be at work early enough to be at your work station by your official start time with all personal matters completed.
Demonstrate a cooperative helpful attitude to coworkers, customers and vendors.
Follow all company policies, procedures and Safety Programs.
Previous experience in truck driving or other related fields
Commercial driver' s license Class A
Ability to handle physical workload
