Drilling Tool Manufacturing Company located off of West Hardy Street in North Houston is currently interviewing for qualified Mid - level Machinist Technician. Company is known to be a global leader in the Drilling Tools & Gas Industry. They manufacture and provide oilfield equipment, down-hole tools, and components for offshore directional drilling & related applications. Positions will be possible Temp to Permanent placements upon completion of the necessary probationary period and performance reevaluation.
Job Description | Machinist
Ideal candidates will be responsible for the production of machined parts including API connections by setting up, and operating a manual or CNC machine lathe, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. Machinists are expected to adhere all safety and quality policies. Must be able to work over night shift Monday - Friday
6: 00pm - 6: 00am | Weekends and O.T. | (12) Hour Shifts.
Key Responsibilities | Essential Functions of the Position:
Crane operations, lifting, holding and indicate parts
Operate machine tools such as lathes to produce metal parts
Proficient loading and unloading and operation of machinery
Check and review accuracy of work against written blueprints and specifications
Gauge and inspect parts to drawing specifications / tolerances
Calculate where to cut and bore
Determine how much material to remove
Monitor and control feed rate and speed
Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations
Ensure work piece is properly lubricated and/or cooled
Replacement of dull cutting tools
General clean up and maintenance of work area
Daily machine inspections
Other duties as assigned
Ability to communicate on technical issues.
Ability to record tool specifications for quality and performance purposes
Must be able to read and interpret charts, drawings and blueprints
Must be able to read, interpret and follow work instructions
Minimum 2 yrs. Previous working history & experience as a Machinist preferred
Familiarity of API threads
Previous QC inspection and tool measurement experience preferred
GED or High School Diploma preferred
Sitting, standing, walking Drilling Tool, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending, lifting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists, flexing or rotating with both wrists, use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, perform duties in all climates, and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
