The Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible for preforming industrial maintenance responsibilities as assigned, or as may arise due to production needs. Emphasis is placed on safe, accurate, timely troubleshooting of production equipment issues, and minimization of downtime.

  • Efficiently sets-up, adjusts, and troubleshoots Packaging equipment for assigned lines
  • Completes minor and major repair, preventative maintenance and major overhaul on all Packaging equipment
  • Works with other packaging associates in a team environment to efficiently execute the schedule
  • Communicates with Warehouse, Processing, Shop, and other support areas
  • Strives for continuous improvement in service, quality, safety, and cost
  • Ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, FDA drug product manufacturing procedures and quality and safety standards
  • Keeps lines operating properly during the course of production runs
  • Assists Packaging machine operators and adviser with machinery related problems encountered during production runs
  • Coordinates new line and equipment installations, equipment upgrades, and other major projects from conceptual stage
  • Assists in the design of new setup parts
  • Repairs change parts as prescribed
  • Assists in evaluating initial and ongoing competence level of mechanics and sanitizers
  • Looks for opportunities to improve standard line speed and crews and monitors actual line speeds/crews
  • Understands and implements fill/torque control requirement
  • Uses information to minimize waste and spoilage
  • Ensures that areas are secure prior to evacuation
  • Works directly with Processing to execute proper bulk delivery
  • Responsible and accountable for the daily execution of schedule
  • Ensures that preventative maintenance is scheduled and executed according to manufacturer' s specifications
  • Trains other associates as needed
  • Follows safety policies and maintains good housekeeping in work area
  • Responsible for maintaining safe and efficient line operation
  • Must care for and preserve high quality of all equipment.
  • Assume leadership role by giving direction to other associates
  • Exercises professionalism in dealing with all situations
  • Maintains the confidentiality of Company information

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity needed
  • Must demonstrate expertise in the setup, troubleshooting and maintenance of packaging equipment
  • Must be able to read blueprints and sketches
  • Must be able to train and develop other associates
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed
  • Must be able to handle pressure and demonstrate flexibility
  • Must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and take initiative on specific issues
  • Ability to prioritize the handling of situations needed
  • Must be able to work well with others with little direct supervision
  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out more complex instructions in written, oral or diagram form
  • Must be able to deal with more complex problems involving some abstract thinking, though may require supervision
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions in written and oral format from Management and associates
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals without adviser explanation
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fraction and decimals
  • Must be able to frequently use hand and power tools
  • Associates will work in a packaging environment producing cosmetics, fragrances and toiletries and have contact with sanitizing agents, hot water and bleach in addition to exposure to odors, noise, temperature fluctuations and fork lift traffic
