Maintenance Technician/Greenville, SC

Hour: 8:30am – 4pm (M-F)

Pay: $23.00

 

MUST have clean background and must be able to pass a drug test.

 

NATURE OF WORK

Under the general supervision of the Operations Services Manager, the Maintenance Technician will serve as one of the persons responsible for the maintenance and daily operation of both the interior & exterior of Phoenix Center facilities, including but not limited to; HVAC & plumbing, minor carpentry repairs, sheetrock repair/replacement, general building maintenance, painting, vehicle preventative maintenance and other maintenance tasks as assigned. The overall goal of this position is to keep the facilities safe and in optimum operational condition both physically and aesthetically in an efficient and cost effective manner. It does require on call availability for occasional emergency maintenance and operations related issues.

 

This position involves activities that require the ability to lift 50 – 70 lbs., reaching, grasping, bending, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas with supervisors and co-workers. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing surroundings and activities. The Maintenance Technician must be able to think and work independently and make sound judgment calls. The worker may be subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

 

JOB DUTIES

  • Schedules and performs the maintenance of HVAC systems, changing filters and identifies any operational issues regarding the units.

 

  • Schedules and performs inspections and preventative maintenance on agency vehicles and schedules routine maintenance with the county garage or other vehicle services provider.

 

  • Schedules and performs maintenance duties on agency facilities including but not limited to basic plumbing, basic carpentry, painting, sheetrock repair, as well as other maintenance duties as assigned.

 

  • Responsible for prioritizing and completing submitted work orders in a timely manner.

 

  • Performs monthly safety inspections of all facilities and documents findings with recommendations to correct any identified problem areas, and assists with monthly safety drills.

  • Tracks expenditures as need for accounting compliance

 

  • Performs 24/7 on call emergency services as required.

 

  • Pick-up and/or delivery Agency’s interoffice mail, meals, supplies, and equipment as needed.

 

  • Serves on Commission committee(s) as needed.

  • Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written expression.

Knowledge and ability to perform minor automotive maintenance, repair, and inspections.

Knowledge and ability to perform daily healthcare facilities maintenance within regulatory compliance.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with clients, staff, and other agencies.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to organize, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Must have and be able to maintain a valid driver’s license and provide proof of liability insurance coverage.

 

REQURIED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum HS Diploma with 3-5 years experience in general facility maintenance. AS degree in a technical skills program, such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing or Industrial Maintenance preferred. Experience working in a health care environment a plus.
