Job Description

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician on the 1st shift (Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM -3:30 PM)

This position will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and routine facilities maintenance. Excellent opportunity for that someone who wants to make a difference in a smaller organization!


Responsibilities:

  • Maintains plant machinery and equipment following a standard preventive maintenance schedule to keep equipment functioning at maximum efficiency and reliability

  • Performs troubleshooting and analysis to fix additional equipment problems as they occur

  • Performs general building maintenance, which includes, but is not limited to, light carpentry and painting, cleaning, light plumbing, changing of light bulbs, repair of minor electrical devices, changing of filters on HVAC equipment, and monitoring of outdoor spaces

  • Assists Facilities Engineer in scheduling work and determining needs for equipment and supplies

  • Records all actions are taken in the equipment maintenance log promptly and accurately so that complete records are available

  • Makes recommendations to improve preventive maintenance procedures

  • Makes enhancements to equipment as directed by Engineering and/or Production Manager

  • Performs routine facilities maintenance, as needed; does not include advanced plumbing or electrical work

  • Runs errands to pick up parts or supplies

  • Assists the Production Manager with coordinating the work of sub-contractors

  • Maintains tool room to ensure availability of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary to perform maintenance functions

  • Makes suggestions to improve quality, efficiency, safety, or communication

  • Follows all safety practices and immediately corrects or reports unsafe or hazardous conditions. Maintains a clean and orderly work area

  • Provide off-hour coverage/support as required

  • Travel to and perform duties at the McHenry facility upon request

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the department supervisor

Education & Experience:

  • High school degree or equivalent

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, good math skills, problem-solving, and attention to detail

  • Must have experience with essential hand tools and electrical meters

  • Knowledge of machinery repair, troubleshooting, and building maintenance

  • 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment

  • Must be able to read electrical and pneumatic diagrams, knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics a plus

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • Good documentation skills and strong computer skills

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively both orally and in writing with maintenance staff and cross-functional teams

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations

  • Ability to work under pressure and respond with a sense of urgency

  • Ability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock-out tag-out, guarding, and the level of operator involvement for proper machine integrity, consulting managers when needed, and driving a safety culture

  • Able to read and understand maintenance schedules, machine schematics, and troubleshooting manuals, and to neatly maintain maintenance logs

  • Able to climb ladders, stoop, bend, and otherwise physically able to access all areas of machinery and equipment to perform maintenance

  • Ability to fabricate small parts, brackets, assemblies, and tooling from various materials using standard shop equipment. Welding skills a plus

  • Possesses a valid driver's license
