Job Title: Purchasing Agent
Location: Lithia Springs, Georgia (In-Office – Not Remote)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: $60,000–$65,000 per year
Overview:
A well-established distribution company is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to manage the full procurement cycle within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will have at least 3+ years of purchasing experience in a distribution or manufacturing setting and understand the importance of supplier management, cost control, and inventory accuracy.
This role requires someone who is professional yet easygoing, able to build strong working relationships, and comfortable interacting with a variety of personalities including vendors, sales representatives, company leadership, and office personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the procurement process from identifying purchasing needs through order placement and delivery.
Prepare and issue purchase orders while ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships; negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
Monitor inventory levels to prevent overstocking and stock-outs.
Implement cost-saving initiatives and analyze market trends.
Ensure purchased goods meet quality standards and company specifications.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier agreements, and inventory documentation.
Evaluate vendors based on quality, reliability, and competitiveness.
Collaborate cross-functionally with vendors, sales teams, leadership, and internal staff.
Travel as needed (approximately 10% – must be comfortable flying).
Requirements:
Minimum 3+ years of purchasing experience within a distribution or manufacturing environment (required).
Strong customer service (CSR) skills with the ability to communicate effectively across departments and externally.
Professional, adaptable personality with the ability to work well with diverse individuals.
Strong multitasking and organizational skills in a fast-paced setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (Sage experience is a plus).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Additional Information:
This is a fully in-office position (not remote).
Candidates must be comfortable with occasional air travel will travel from time to time for training
